"I believe in people and their possibilities, so I chose a career centered on people and their performance.  By recruiting executives-invariably to cause a performance breakthrough for a client-I've come to understand that extraordinary business performance occurs when everyone is aligned and accountable for the same outcomes.

My fascination for peak performance extends to negotiating Hong Kong's steep jungle mountains on a downhill mountain bike. I often take my bike on business trips, so I have enjoyed the slopes of Whistler, Vancouver's north shore, India's Himalayas and Thailand's Chiang Mai mountains."

Mark has lived in Hong Kong since 1982. He came to the city to lead corporate human resources for the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, and went on to take up similar roles with Holiday Inns Worldwide and the Peninsula Group.  His early hospitality experience includes assignments in Nigeria, Iran, Turkey, Lesotho, and across the Middle East. Mark is a recognized authority on strategic human capital management in the hospitality industry, hotel openings and the cross-cultural implications for management and service. He has been a consultant with the Hotel Industry Training Board and led Hilton's executive training and development centre in Switzerland.

Mark served as an infantry officer with The Royal Hong Kong Regiment, after receiving a commission at the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst.  He has a Master of Science degree in training from the University of Leicester and is a fellow of the Institute of Hospitality (FIH).
