2012 Canadian Hotel Property Compensation Study©

This is the first comprehensive hotel property survey conducted by HVS Executive Search in Canada. In conjunction with the Canadian Tourism Human Resource Council we designed this survey to provide the local hotel industry with current compensation information for hotel property positions. Data for this report has been collected from 232 properties throughout Canada covering 33 positions and 1,630 incumbents.

Data is presented nationally and also cut based on:

  • Revenue: <$2.5M, between $2.5M - $10.0M and >$10.0M
  • No. of rooms: <100 rooms, between 100 - 250 rooms and >250 rooms
  • Property type: all-suite, commercial, conference/convention centre, extended stay and resort
  • Property standards: budget, luxury, first-class, and mid-scale
  • Location: airport, highway, resort, rural, suburban and urban

North America Chain Restaurant Executive Compensation Report 2011©

The biennial study is designed to provide current and credible total rewards compensation information for senior-level executives for chain restaurants of all sizes, both public and private, and from all segments in the US. Widely regarded as the industry's most comprehensive guide to total direct compensation practices, the report comprises data for fifteen senior leadership positions from ninety-six chain restaurant organizations. 
Some of the peer group details include:

  • Peer group company annual revenue ranged from $2.9 million to $24.1 billion with median annual revenue of $351.1 million;
  • Peer group number of units ranged from 8 to 38,000 with a median of 277 units (includes corporate and franchisee locations);
  • 62% of the peer group organizations operate as a public entity;
  • 38% of the peer group organizations operate as a private entity;
  • Respondents covered five segments of the chain restaurant industry: casual (32), cafeteria/family (14), fast casual (11), quick service (32), and upscale/casual (7).
